You Don't Need Your Knots -- We Knead Your Knots
Chinese massage refers to two types of therapy
Tuina and Zhiya.
In combination, this
therapy involves twisting, turning, pinching,
rythmic stroking, pulling rubbing
down and kneading the muscles, and can be used in conjunction with
aromatherapy as is the case with Oriental Massage
Galway (OMG). While this type of massage does relax the muscles and
relieve stress, it’s main Therapeutic goal is tending to cure
relieve pain or restore to health
and heal the body.
Tui na or Tuina (pronounced twee-na), is a push-and-pull method.
Acupressure is the treatment of symptoms by
applying pressure with the fingers and other
vibrating devices to specific pressure points on the body.
Compression consists of pressing and twisting motions that apply direct
pressure to a patient. This pressure can alleviate muscle spasms and
work out knots or stiffness. Compression also promotes blood
circulation.
Effleurage is a rhythmic stroking when combined with friction is a technique like other massages. It involves rubbing or gliding motions, to realign muscles and dissolve knots or tension. Focusing on the axis of body parts such as shoulders and hips, massage therapists in places like OMG use joint manipulation which includes rotating and pulling motions to increase joint range and promotes flexibility of the spine and limbs.
To knead is to massage or rubdown as in the act of
rubbing down, usually for relaxation or medicinal purposes
The masseuse therapist at our Oriental Massage
practice in Galway will rock, shake, or vibrate an area to create force.
This releases tension, improves gastrointestinal function, and removes
stagnation, allowing the Qi to resume proper flow. Female massage
therapists at our Oriental Massage Clinic depending on a variety of
factors often use rolling pins, massage sticks and mechanical devices
such as a vibrator used for massage that produces vibratory motion.
