Extracted from the petals of certain rose
species, rose essential oil is thought to contain healing properties, as
anti-anxiety oil which acts to relieve stress and anxiety related
dysfunctions. Among the species most commonly used are damask rose,
cabbage rose, and the white rose. These are the species known to have
the strongest aroma and highest oil content.
Rose oil is an essential oil commonly used in
aromatherapy, also known as essential oil therapy, a practice that uses
plant extracts to promote health and well-being. Rose oil is one of the
most commonly used essential oils that some believe have
anxiety-reducing and aphrodisiac properties.
When applied to the skin, rose oil may help
relieve pain and inflammation while improving the overall quality of the
skin. It has been used to clear acne by dabbing one drop of diluted rose
essential oil onto blemishes when they arise, continuing three times a
day until it is gone. Use of a sterile cotton swab is recommended for
safe application, and diluted with carrier oil. Rose oil is also one of
the most widely used essential oils in the manufacture of perfumes and
fragranced products.
It has been reported that the application of
rose oil diluted with massage carrier oil delivers feelings of
relaxation through a reduction in the respiration rate, blood oxygen
saturation, and blood pressure during stressful situations.
